Health & Safety Policy

Indigo Projects Limited (trading as Indigo Sign Solutions) is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, subcontractors, clients and members of the public who may be affected by our work activities.

1. Policy Statement

Indigo Projects Limited (trading as Indigo Sign Solutions) is committed to planning, controlling and reviewing our activities in such a manner that, wherever practicable, no harm or ill health befalls employees or any other persons who may be affected by our work activities.

This policy applies to all Indigo Projects Limited (trading as Indigo Sign Solutions) employees, subcontractors, suppliers and any persons working on our behalf. It covers all activities including design, manufacture, logistics and installation of signage and graphics across all locations in the United Kingdom.

2. Management Commitments

The Directors and senior management of Indigo Projects Limited (trading as Indigo Sign Solutions) are committed to:

  • Ensuring adequate resources are provided in terms of finance, time and personnel to meet the organisation's health, safety and operational needs
  • Providing safe and healthy working conditions for the prevention of work-related injury and ill health
  • Establishing and reviewing Health & Safety objectives on a regular basis
  • Fulfilling all relevant legal requirements under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and associated regulations
  • Eliminating hazards and reducing Health & Safety risks so far as is reasonably practicable
  • Continually improving the Health & Safety management system
  • Ensuring consultation with and participation of all workers in Health & Safety matters
  • Ensuring that work is only undertaken, managed and supervised by those who are competent to do so
  • Providing relevant training to all employees and subcontractors involved in our work activities
  • Ensuring all accidents, incidents and near misses are recorded, investigated and findings shared to improve performance
  • Conducting regular reviews and audits of our Health & Safety management systems

3. Responsibilities

Directors

The Directors of Indigo Projects Limited (trading as Indigo Sign Solutions) bear overall responsibility for Health & Safety. They will ensure this policy is implemented, resourced and reviewed, and that a positive Health & Safety culture is promoted throughout the organisation.

Managers and Supervisors

All managers and supervisors are responsible for implementing this policy within their areas of responsibility. They must ensure that risk assessments and method statements are in place, that employees are briefed on safe systems of work, and that any unsafe acts or conditions are addressed promptly.

Employees and Subcontractors

All employees and subcontractors are required to:

  • Take reasonable care for their own Health & Safety and that of others affected by their work
  • Co-operate with management on all Health & Safety matters
  • Use all personal protective equipment provided correctly and as instructed
  • Report all accidents, near misses, hazards and unsafe conditions immediately
  • Not misuse or interfere with anything provided for Health & Safety purposes
  • Attend all Health & Safety training as required

4. Installation and Site Safety

All installation activities carried out by Indigo Projects Limited (trading as Indigo Sign Solutions) will comply with the following requirements:

  • A site-specific Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS) will be produced and communicated prior to all installation works
  • All operatives working at height will hold the relevant PASMA or IPAF certification appropriate to the equipment being used
  • All installation operatives will hold a valid CSCS card appropriate to their role
  • Full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hard hats, hi-visibility jackets, safety footwear and harnesses (where working at height) will be worn at all times on site
  • Boom lifts, cherry pickers and other powered access platforms will only be operated by trained and certificated operatives
  • All tools and equipment will be inspected prior to use and maintained in safe working condition
  • The work area will be suitably segregated and clearly signed to protect members of the public and other site users

5. Workshop Safety

Within our workshop and production environment, the following standards apply:

  • All machinery will be operated only by trained personnel and will be maintained in accordance with manufacturers' guidelines
  • COSHH assessments will be completed for all hazardous substances used in the workplace
  • Appropriate PPE will be available and used for all workshop activities
  • Adequate ventilation will be maintained, particularly in areas where printing, cutting, welding or coating operations take place
  • Electrical equipment will be subject to regular PAT testing
  • Fire safety arrangements, including extinguishers, fire exits and evacuation procedures, will be maintained and regularly reviewed

6. Training and Competence

Indigo Projects Limited (trading as Indigo Sign Solutions) will ensure that:

  • All new employees receive appropriate induction training covering Health & Safety procedures
  • Operatives are trained and certificated for all specialist activities including working at height, manual handling and use of specific equipment
  • Training records are maintained and certifications kept up to date
  • Subcontractors are required to demonstrate their competence and provide evidence of relevant qualifications and insurance prior to engagement

7. Accident Reporting and Investigation

All accidents, incidents and near misses must be reported immediately to a director or manager and recorded in the Company accident book. Where required under RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013), incidents will be reported to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

All significant incidents will be formally investigated, with findings documented and corrective actions implemented to prevent recurrence.

8. Emergency Procedures

Emergency procedures including first aid arrangements, fire evacuation plans and emergency contact details will be maintained and communicated to all personnel. A minimum of one trained first aider will be available at all times during working hours.

9. Policy Review

This Health & Safety Policy will be reviewed annually and following any significant incident, change in legislation or significant change in our business operations. The current signed version will be available to all employees and displayed at our premises.
